Work that is built
for the moment
after engagement.

The field does not have a collection problem. It has a translation problem.

Thatch starts there.

Thatch works with what has already been gathered and turns it into evidence institutions can use. This is not a replacement for community engagement. It is what allows that engagement to actually shape decisions.

Analysis

Narrative Evidence Review

What it is

A structured analysis of existing qualitative data using the Story-Based Evidence Framework. Thatch takes community input already gathered — whether from listening sessions, focus groups, participatory research, or community health assessments — and extracts the decision-grade intelligence it contains. This analysis is used by community-engaged research teams needing structured evidence for funder reporting and implementation decisions, by foundations evaluating grantee work, and by health departments approaching planning cycles.

When it's useful

You are designing or reporting on a research project and want to know what your community data actually says. You are approaching a planning cycle and have significant qualitative material that is underused. You need to make the case for a priority or intervention and want evidence grounded in community experience.

What it produces

Evidence brief SBEF analysis report Decision support memo Findings presentation
Training

SBEF Workshop and Learning Series

What it is

A practitioner-facing workshop or multi-session learning series that builds internal capacity to apply SBEF. Designed for public health teams, equity program staff, community health workers, and research teams engaged with qualitative data in planning and community research contexts.

When it's useful

Your team regularly collects community input but lacks a consistent method for analyzing it. You want staff or research partners to move beyond thematic coding toward structured evidence extraction. You are building toward accreditation or funder reporting and want a stronger qualitative infrastructure.

What it produces

Applied skills SBEF toolkit Practice cases Curriculum materials
Strategy

Community Intelligence Strategy

What it is

Consulting support for foundations, community-engaged research initiatives, and health departments designing or redesigning their approach to community knowledge. Thatch works alongside research and planning teams to embed narrative evidence methods from the beginning, rather than retrofitting at the analysis stage.

When it's useful

You are a foundation funding community-engaged work and want your grantees to have a shared framework for what counts as evidence. You are entering a new research phase or assessment cycle and want to do something different with qualitative data. You are designing a community health strategy and need the evidence base to hold.

What it produces

Assessment design Evidence protocol Strategy support Stakeholder materials
Advisory

Ongoing Advisory Support

What it is

A sustained advisory relationship for organizations applying SBEF or building narrative evidence capacity over time. Thatch provides regular consultation, review of materials, and strategic support as teams move from learning to implementation.

When it's useful

You have completed a workshop or analysis engagement and want to continue building. You are implementing a new evidence approach and want a thinking partner as you encounter real-world complexity. You are leading a multi-year equity initiative or research program and need consistent methodological guidance.

What it produces
